Smart Strategies When You Are Trusting God for a Financial Miracle
1. TAKE AN INVENTORY OF YOUR FINANCIAL LIFE
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Psalm 139:23)
If you are facing financial problems and trusting God for a financial miracle, it’s also a good idea to take an inventory of your financial life. The purpose of taking an inventory of your finances is to help you identify the cause of your financial hardship.
For example, maybe you borrowed more money than you could afford, and you are now struggling with the repayments. Perhaps, you lost your job or a big customer in your business. Whatever the reason is for your current financial situation, it’s always good to identify what it is.
Sometimes, we are responsible for our own financial problems, but I know that isn’t always the case. It’s possible you are trusting God for a financial breakthrough to help you complete a big project in your business or pay your college tuition or medical bills. Whatever the reason is for seeking a financial miracle, you can always take stock of your financial life so you can find ways to improve it.
2. LOOK FOR EARNING OPPORTUNITIES
So, you are trusting God for financial provision, however, what can you do in the meantime to bring in some income? Can you find some work to do even if it’s temporarily? For example, some small business owners become contractors, freelancers, or work part-time to earn more money when business is slow.
Also, you can think about what you can do to generate more income in your business. Perhaps, you can do a sale, increase your prices, lower your prices, or do something else.
I have had quite a few financial problems in my life, and I really believe you should talk to God about everything. I have prayed for financial miracles many times and I have seen God move on my behalf. But, I feel more at peace when I am proactive.
When I need a financial miracle, I don’t just pray and fold my hands, I ask God to open my eyes to the opportunities around me. Sometimes, your miracle is waiting for you to discover it and tap into it, so you must avoid a passive mindset.
Be proactive. Take advantage of any opportunity you have to earn money or increase your income. A financial miracle can happen in lots of ways, so don’t limit God or yourself.
3. ADJUST YOUR FINANCIAL LIFE WHEN YOU ARE TRUSTING GOD IN A FINANCIAL CRISIS
A financial crisis can come in a number of ways. Sometimes, it’s because of some bad decisions you made, at other times, you had nothing to do with it. No matter the reason for the financial crisis, one of the first things you should think of doing is to adjust your financial life.
Now, there are lots of ways you can adjust your financial life depending on your circumstances, but one of the quickest ways is to reduce your expenses as much as possible.
When you are under financial stress, your first goal should be to reduce the financial pressure as much as possible. Cutting your expenses is one of the best ways to do that. Get rid of any expense you don’t need.
Consider keeping only your essential expenses for now until things improve. As a business owner, you may need to make some tough decisions for your business if you are facing a financial crisis. For example, you may have to cut down on your staff or downsize your office space.
I have seen people continue to live the same lifestyle they have always lived while going through financial difficulties. These people aren’t willing to make changes because they are trusting God to provide financially.
Trusting God for financial provision doesn’t mean you can’t make changes to your lifestyle or make smart decisions, so think about that as you continue to wait on God for financial blessings.
4. CONTINUE TO BE A GOOD STEWARD WHILE TRUSTING GOD FOR FINANCIAL PROVISION
As Christians, we are stewards of God’s resources, and that includes our finances, that’s why it’s really important to remain a faithful financial steward especially during tough times.
A good financial steward recognizes the sovereignty of God over his or her finances, they are careful how they spend their money, and how they earn their money.
You must continue to be a biblical financial steward through trying times because if your faith only holds up when times are good, then your faith may not be as strong as it should be.
Keep doing what you know is right. Continue to apply biblical financial principles and trust that God will turn your finances around in due course.

5. TRUSTING GOD TO PROVIDE – START PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
I know it may be hard to think of the future when you are in the middle of a financial crisis. However, if you really believe that God has a future plan for you, then you can go ahead and start preparing and planning for the future.
So, how do you prepare for the future? You can start by setting financial goals. If you don’t set financial goals and work towards them, you are going to keep having one financial crisis after the other. So, one way to avoid that is to set goals, then work towards those goals.
An example of a goal you can set includes savings goals which should include short-term and long-term financial goals. Without a savings goal, you will find you keep running out of money or never having enough for the projects you want to do.
It’s never too late to start setting financial goals or to start preparing for the future. You can start today and keep tweaking your goals as your financial life improves. Preparing for the future is an excellent thing to do when you are trusting God for a financial miracle, so get on with it.
6. AVOID NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)
So, you have prayed and you believe that God is so going to come through for you, yet you are filled with anxiety, and you have so many negative thoughts going through your mind. Trust me, I know that feeling all too well.
While it may be difficult to know how to trust God when you have no money, one thing you can do is to try to fill your mind and heart with the word of God. Don’t let your present circumstances overwhelm you or control your thoughts.
Instead, focus on the goodness of God. Immerse yourself in his word. Read bible verses about finances. There are lots of scriptures about money in the Bible. Here are 100 of them to get you started.
I tend to get very negative when things aren’t going well especially when I am facing financial difficulties. I start imagining the worse and end up getting myself into such a state. But, being negative does absolutely nothing for you, so why bother?
7. LEARN HOW TO MANAGE YOUR FINANCES
Personal financial education never ends. You can always learn something new about how to manage your finances. Sadly, many Christians aren’t good managers of their finances, so they always find themselves in financial difficulties.
While you may not be able to avoid all financial crises, some of them can be avoided with better money management. So, think about how you can improve your money management skills. What do you need to learn about personal finances?
Do you have available resources you can use to improve your financial literacy? There are lots of free personal finance resources out there, so, there’s no reason why anyone should be financially illiterate.
So, make a plan to become a better money manager while trusting God to provide financially.
8. BE PATIENT WHEN YOU ARE TRUSTING GOD FOR FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH
When you are facing a financial crisis, it’s easy to become impatient or desperate especially if you feel God is taking too long to show up. But, being desperate puts you at risk of making bad decisions or doing some ungodly things.
You have to guide yourself against that feeling of desperation. God isn’t a magician who is just going to wave a magic wand whenever you need something. Trusting God to provide financially means you trust him to show up at the right now.
So, learn to be patient and trust in God’s timing. While you wait, you can work on the other things that I have written about in this post. A miracle can take any shape or form, so you must keep working and keep being consistent in whatever you do.
Keep your gaze on Jesus and don’t be swayed by anything that looks suspicious. There are people out there who will prey on you if you allow them. Some people like to take advantage of others when they know they are in a predicament.
Don’t sign up for loans with very high-interest rates because you are desperate. Also, don’t use your valuables as collateral for any loan without thinking things through. I know things may be tough right now, but you can plan for the future and still make good financial decisions during tough times.
9. HOW TO TRUST GOD WHEN YOU HAVE NO MONEY – KEEP GIVING
Now, I am not asking you to give all the money you have because you think God is going to double it or anything like that. The Bible says that you should give as you are able and give cheerfully.
Giving is the first thing that goes when you are in the middle of a financial crisis, but I think that’s a shame. If you can, please continue to give to God’s work. You don’t have to give ten percent or any fixed amount. You can give as you are able even if it’s only $1 at a time.
Please be wary of financial promises that are tied to how much you give. Giving is a personal thing between you and God and he knows your heart and pocket too.
There was a time in my life when it was so hard for me to give because money was so tight. But, I gave every time I could even if it wasn’t frequently. As long as you have peace in your heart, you will be just fine.
