Some powerful scriptures you can pray to dedicate your new business

What is a prayer of dedication? How do I pray for a new business? How do I pray for business prosperity? These are three of the most common questions new Christian entrepreneurs ask. So what’s a prayer of dedication? A prayer of dedication for a business is simply a way of acknowledging God and inviting him to bless your business.

Lots of Christian business owners want to operate their business with Christian business principles, but they also want their business to grow. Sometimes this feels like a contradiction. The good news is that it’s not a contradiction. You can run your business with biblical principles and still prosper financially as long as you lay the proper foundation for your business.

This is where a business dedication prayer can be useful.

So to help you get off on the right foot and prepare spiritually for doing business God’s way, here are some important scriptures you can pray to dedicate your business and ask God for his blessing.

Business Dedication Prayer: 21 Important Scriptures To Anchor Your Business On

“The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,” (Psalm 24:1)

“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.” (Psalm 50:10)

Pray that as you open the doors of your business, you will recognize you’re a steward and God owns your business. That you will run your business in a way that glorifies God.

Ask for God to give you the grace to be a good steward, so you can use the resources that have been committed to you for good. Pray that you’ll be prudent because you know God owns it all, and you’ll give an account of everything that has been placed in your trust.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

Pray that you won’t compromise your faith in any way and that biblical business principles will be the foundation of your business. That your light will shine bright and men will be drawn to it.

You will stay faithful even through difficult times and not bring reproach to the name of Jesus.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.” (Psalm 37:5)

You know there will be tough times, but you’re committed to trusting God for your business. Your hope and trust are not in man or your ability but in the name of the Lord.

Pray that God will always remind you of his faithfulness so your trust in him never wavers.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3: 23-24)

Diligence is one of the most important habits that you need to build a successful business that’s why a business dedication prayer must include it. You don’t want to be a slothful business owner or one that makes excuses.

Ask God to give you strength. That you will not grow weary or tired of working on your business. That God will be your strength so you can show up daily and do everything you need to to build a successful business.

Remind God of his word that in all labor there’s profit, so as you work heartily on your business, you will see the results in the form of business sales and profit.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5)

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. …” (Proverbs 3:13-18)

As a business owner, you’re going to make lots of business decisions and one bad decision can be enough to sink your business. That’s why you need to ask God for wisdom.

You need wisdom to guide your decisions to avoid making costly mistakes. Since God is the giver of wisdom and wisdom is found in his word, you must study God’s word and be attentive to the Holy Spirit.

So pray for wisdom. Ask God to help you make the right decisions. To help you discern evil from good so you can make good decisions that lead only to prosperity.

“Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” (Daniel 6:3)

One important prayer of dedication for a business is to pray for the spirit of excellence in the business owner. A spirit of excellence will set you apart and ultimately lead to financial and other blessings.

When you have a spirit of excellence like Daniel, you strive to be the best that you can be. You don’t settle for mediocrity. You prepare yourself and become really skilled at what you do.

Ask God to help you never settle for mediocrity. To always strive for excellence so you can create things that people love or provide services that people love. That your products or services will change lives for the better. A spirit of excellence will distinguish you from your competitors and peers, so it’s worth praying for.

“The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22)

“Now Isaac sowed seed in the land, and in that very year he reaped a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him, and he became richer and richer until he was exceedingly wealthy.” (Genesis 26:12-13)

“But remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s God that gives the power to get wealth. Yes, you still have to work hard and do your part, but ultimately, it’s God who decides, that’s why you need to ask him for financial blessings.

Pray that you’ll not toil in vain. That you’ll eat the fruits of your labor and that God will empower you to get wealth. More importantly, you will enjoy his blessings without any sorrow added to them.

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;” (Psalm 1:1)

As part of your business dedication prayer, you must ask for God to surround you only with good people because as a business owner you are going to be working with a lot of different people.

You want employees, customers, and business partners that will love and support you. That the people you work with will be wise and good people. People who fear God, are honest and people who always strive to do what’s right.

Some people are not always what they seem, so you need the grace of God to choose your companions wisely lest they lead you astray or cause harm to your business.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” (Psalm 90:7)

“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow” (1 Corinthians 3:7)

Praying for favor is probably one of the first prayers to start a new business.

Starting a business can be a bit overwhelming because of all the things you have to do. As a new business owner, you’ve to try to get customers for your business, maybe hire some new employees, enter a business partnership, and a host of other things. That’s why you need favor.

Pray that God will send helpers into your life. Ask for loyal customers that will like your products or services. That people would be drawn to you and they will choose you instead of your competitors.

You need God’s favor to thrive in your business so make it a part of your business dedication prayer.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” (Philippians 2:3)

“Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,” (1 Timothy 3:2)

Business owners are leaders and managers and they set the tone for their business. Unfortunately, there are too many bad business leaders that’s why a lot of customers find it hard to trust businesses.

As a Christian entrepreneur, one of your goals is to be a good leader and manager for your business. Ask God to help you to be a good example to your employees and everyone else. This means treating people fairly and with respect.

Being a good leader means caring about people, and supporting and encouraging them when they are feeling down. Needless to say, to be a good leader, you must be honest and have integrity.

Perhaps, you’ve never been in a leadership position but now is your chance. So pray for direction, and for God to empower you to be a great leader for his glory.
