Prayer for Business Breakthrough: 16 Inspirational Bible Verses to Encourage You
1. PRAY THAT YOU WILL NOT BE DISCOURAGED OR OVERWHELMED
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
First, let me say that it’s totally normal to feel discouraged when your business is stagnant. Don’t feel like you’re a failure or you lack faith if you have entertained thoughts of giving up.
Now, with that said, I don’t want you to be completely discouraged or to be overwhelmed with a feeling of hopelessness because that won’t do you any good.
So read and meditate on the scriptures I quoted above. Pray them again and again so you can strengthen your faith and continue to hope in God’s promises. God is faithful and he knows you need a breakthrough in your business. You just need to remind him of his word and remain steadfast.
Pray with me.
“Dear God, your word says you have plans for me. Because you have good plans for me, I can look forward to a better future. I trust you with all my heart and I know you will make straight my path. I fix my gaze on you and I thank you because I know you hear me and see me.”
And, remember to be thankful for all the good things that are happening in your business. Don’t get too focused on the problems or negatives. A heart of gratitude will keep you motivated.

2. ASK FOR FAVOR
“For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12)
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11)
There are times when the only breakthrough you need for your business is favor. Maybe you need that client to pay up or for that contract to be signed. Perhaps, you need more sales. Whatever it is you need to happen, ask God for his grace. Pray for his favor and his blessing.
I have been a recipient of God’s mercy and favor throughout my life. I remember some years ago when I was in college and didn’t know how I was going to pay my tuition. Out of nowhere, I got a call that I’d been awarded a scholarship. That was God’s favor working for me.
Favor in business can open doors and opportunities that can change the trajectory of your business.
Pray with me.
“Who have in heaven but you Lord? You promised you will bless the righteous and cover him with favor. Now, Lord, let your favor be upon me and establish the work of my hands. I wait on you for deliverance. Send help Lord and cause doors to open. In Jesus name.”
3. PRAY THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,” (Romans 5:3-4)
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18)
While I don’t know you or the specific issue you’re dealing with, I know when someone needs a prayer for business breakthrough, it’s usually because their business is struggling.
When you are struggling, it’s even more challenging to stay faithful, that’s why you need God’s grace to help you stay faithful so you can continue to run your business for his glory.
Know that whatever you’re going through is temporary, so be careful not to compromise your faith or do anything that’s against biblical business principles.
You can pray like this.
“Dear God, without you, I can do nothing. You are my rock and my salvation. I know whatever I am going through will pass sooner or later. Help me to stay faithful, remain a good steward, and continue to run my business for your glory. I ask this in the name of my Lord Jesus.”
4. ASK GOD TO OPEN YOUR EYES TO ANYTHING YOU ARE MISSING
“Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:2-5)
There are times when you are too close to what’s going on around you that you end up missing some important cues. That’s why a Prayer for business breakthrough or a prayer for a struggling business should include this prayer point.
Your breakthrough could be just around the corner if only God can open your eyes to see anything you are missing or what you need to do to usher in your business breakthrough.
So pray for wisdom, for insight, and for clarity. Ask God to show you anything you are missing in your business that will unlock your success.
Pray like this.
“Precious Lord, you are all-knowing. You can see things that I can’t see, so now, I pray that the eyes of my understanding will be open. That you will show me any important piece of pieces I am missing or have overlooked in my business. Thank you because I know my breakthrough is on the way.”
5. PRAY FOR WISDOM IN MAKING DECISIONS
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5)
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” (Proverbs 19:20)
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;” (Proverbs 2:6)
Okay, let me just put this our here. Some of you are responsible for the current state of your business.
Have you made some poor decisions that landed you in trouble? Then, it’s time to pray for wisdom. Going forward, you need to make good business decisions that will lead to business success and prosperity.
While you may not be able to undo the result of some decisions, you can definitely start making better decisions to improve your business. So ask for wisdom.
Ask God to help you make the best decisions for your business. Not decisions based on fear or ignorance, but careful and smart decisions that can turn your business around for good.
“Lord, I don’t always make the best decisions for my business or life, but thank you for your mercy. Going forward, I want to make good decisions that bring success and prosperity. So, help me, God. Help me make wise decisions for your glory.”
6. PRAY FOR FINANCIAL BLESSING
“A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1)
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2)
It doesn’t matter how much you love your business. If your business isn’t doing well financially, you are going to start feeling stressed, anxious, and maybe unhappy.
If your business is going through a financial downturn, it’s time to ask God for a financial miracle. The Bible says that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it belongs to him. So ask him for a financial breakthrough for your business.
Pray, believing that God hears you when you call.
“Father, your word says that you will supply all my needs according to your riches in Christ Jesus. Lord, I need a financial breakthrough in my business. I pray for open heavens over my business. I ask that my business be marked by abundance and not lack. Thank you for your provision now and always.”
7. PRAY FOR A SPECIFIC NEED
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6)
“The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.” (Proverbs 10:3)
“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.” (Psalm 37:25)
What do you need the most in your business? Do you have a specific need you want God to meet?
Whether it’s more customers, a business loan, or an office space, whatever it is you need right now, I want you to pray about it. Be specific when you pray.
I like to be specific when I pray for my business. Being specific keeps me focused and stops me from rambling. My faith also grows the more specific I get.
Spend some time praying for that thing (or two) that’s slowing you down. Ask for the specific breakthrough that you need and wait for God to grant your request.
8. PRAY THAT YOU WILL BECOME MORE SPIRITUALLY MATURE
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)
Adversity should lead to spiritual maturity but that isn’t always the case. I have lost faith a few times when I was facing hard times. I’d feel discouraged and disappointed and I’d start looking for solutions myself.
While there’s nothing wrong with taking practical steps to resolve issues in your business, your motive or motivation is also important. So ask the Holy Spirit to help you become more spiritually mature through these challenging times.
Pray that your faith will become stronger and not weaker. That you won’t lose your joy or strength because you know the Lord is your helper.
“Holy Spirit, help me to stay strong through adversity. Let me come out of this situation stronger and loving the Lord even more. Help me to continue to walk in the paths of righteousness. Let me not trust in my own strength or in the strength of man because vain is the help of man. Thank you for your peace and grace.
